Custom Tilt-and-Turn Windows
Window frames and windows shape the appearance of your property. However, older sliding windows can also present challenges, such as fogged-up glass, drafts, poor sound insulation, or even rot. The window may also slide less smoothly. In bustling and often rainy Amsterdam, these issues can be particularly frustrating. At Heym, we can help resolve these problems while retaining the authenticity of your sliding windows. One effective solution is the installation of tilt-and-turn windows, which can open inward vertically or tilt horizontally downward.
At Heym, we produce the wooden frames, moldings, and window sections needed for tilt-and-turn windows in our own workshop or in collaboration with a traditional carpentry factory. Each window is custom-made to fit your property perfectly, ensuring high quality and quick installation. We use mahogany wood for all parts—a stable, solid wood species. Our specialty lies in preserving authenticity while crafting and installing wooden frames. With Heym’s meticulous craftsmanship, your new and improved window will retain the historical character of your original sliding window.
Our tilt-and-turn windows come with double glazing (HR++), providing better insulation for your home and eliminating drafts, helping reduce energy costs. Double glazing also keeps out the noise of Amsterdam’s lively streets. Additionally, these windows are easy to clean and offer enhanced security against intruders.

How do we install a tilt-and-turn window?
At Heym, you can choose to replace just the window or the entire frame. To preserve the historical and authentic character of your property, we carefully remove the architraves and window sections before installing the new, custom-made window. If the original frame is still in good condition, the space used for the weights of the sliding window is repurposed to fit the new frame. The old parts are then adjusted to match the new tilt-and-turn window. Finally, we insulate any gaps and provide a flawless finish. This approach ensures that the appearance of your sliding window is preserved.
Accessories
At Heym, we strive to maintain the authenticity of your property when replacing your sliding window. We offer various accessories for tilt-and-turn windows to match your preferred style.
Warranty conditions
To guarantee the promised quality, we offer a 10-year warranty on window frames and windows. This warranty covers issues such as water and wind tightness and color adhesion of the frames. We also provide a five-year warranty on the glazing, covering problems like condensation or dirt between double panes. Hardware and fittings are covered by a two-year warranty.
Permits
Maintaining the appearance of your property is always important. For listed buildings, this is not only desired but often mandatory. At Heym, we ensure that the appearance of your property remains unchanged. However, it’s important to know in advance which activities may require a permit for your property.
Costs
Since we create custom window frames and sections tailored to your property, prices vary per property and project. We’re happy to visit and assess the condition of your sliding windows, discuss your preferences, and provide a detailed cost estimate during this consultation.
